Ryzodeg Flextouch 100Iu Injection 3ml contains insulin degludec and insulin aspart, a combination of long-acting and rapid-acting insulins, used to manage blood sugar levels in individuals with diabetes mellitus.

Uses and Indications

• Treatment of diabetes mellitus in adults, adolescents, and children from 2 years of age.
• Management of blood sugar levels in Type 1 diabetes, typically in combination with short-/rapid-acting insulin at other meals.
• Management of blood sugar levels in Type 2 diabetes, either alone or in combination with oral antidiabetic medicinal products or bolus insulin.

The Ryzodeg Flextouch 100Iu Injection 3ml contains:

• Insulin Degludec 2.56mg and Insulin Aspart 1.05mg per 1ml (100 units/mL, in a 70/30 ratio).
• One pre-filled pen contains 300 units of insulin degludec/insulin aspart in 3 mL solution.
• Excipients: Glycerol, metacresol, phenol, sodium chloride, zinc acetate, hydrochloric acid/sodium hydroxide, and water for injections.

Dosage and Administration

1. Administer Ryzodeg Flextouch 100Iu Injection 3ml subcutaneously into the abdominal wall, upper arm, or thigh.
2. Rotate injection sites within the same region to reduce the risk of lipodystrophy and cutaneous amyloidosis.
3. Always use a new needle for each injection.
4. The dose is individualized based on the patient's metabolic needs, blood glucose monitoring results, and glycemic control goal, as directed by a doctor.
5. It can be administered once or twice daily with the main meal(s).
6. If a dose is missed, it can be taken with the next main meal of that day, then resume the usual dosing schedule. Do not take an extra dose to make up for a missed dose.
7. Do not administer intravenously or intramuscularly, and do not use in insulin infusion pumps.
8. Do not dilute or mix Ryzodeg Flextouch with any other insulin products or solutions.
9. Leave the needle under the skin for at least 6 seconds after injection to ensure the full dose is delivered.

Storage and Disposal

• Unopened pens should be stored in a refrigerator between 2°C and 8°C. Do not freeze.
• After first use, the pen can be stored at room temperature (below 30°C) or in a refrigerator (2°C - 8°C) for a maximum of 4 weeks (28 days).
• Keep the cap on the pen when not in use to protect it from light.
• Keep the pen and needles out of sight and reach of children.
• Dispose of the needle after each injection.

Precautions and Safety

• Never share a Ryzodeg Flextouch pen between patients, even if the needle is changed, as this poses a risk for transmission of blood-borne pathogens.
• Changes in an insulin regimen (e.g., insulin strength, manufacturer, type, injection site, or method of administration) should be made cautiously and only under close medical supervision with increased frequency of blood glucose monitoring.
• Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) is the most common adverse reaction of insulin. Omission of a meal or unplanned strenuous physical exercise may lead to hypoglycemia.
• Ryzodeg Flextouch is contraindicated during episodes of hypoglycemia and in patients with hypersensitivity to its active substances or excipients.
• Use with caution in patients with kidney or liver disorders, as insulin requirements may vary. Glucose monitoring should be intensified, and the insulin dose adjusted on an individual basis.
• Avoid excessive alcohol consumption while using this medicine, as it can increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
• Patients must always check the insulin label before each injection to avoid accidental mix-ups between Ryzodeg Flextouch and other insulin products.
• If experiencing dizziness or fainting, consult a doctor immediately.
• Taking certain diabetes pills called thiazolidinediones (TZDs) with Ryzodeg Flextouch may cause or worsen heart failure. Patients should be observed for signs and symptoms of heart failure, weight gain, and oedema.

Side Effects and Risks

• Common side effects include low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), injection site reactions (such as pain, redness, swelling, itching, haematoma, haemorrhage, erythema, nodules, discolouration, pruritus, warmth, and injection site mass), lipodystrophy (including lipohypertrophy and lipoatrophy), weight gain, peripheral edema, rash, and itching.
• Serious side effects, though rare, can include severe, life-threatening generalized allergic reactions (anaphylaxis, angioedema, bronchospasm, hypotension, and shock), severe hypoglycemia (which can lead to unconsciousness, convulsions, temporary or permanent impairment of brain function, or even death), and temporary worsening of diabetic retinopathy.
• Other reported side effects include blurred vision, cold sweating, dizziness, and tachycardia.
