Uses and Indications

• Chronic weight management in adults with obesity (BMI ≥30 kg/m²) or overweight (BMI ≥27 kg/m²) with at least one weight-related comorbid condition, as an adjunct to a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.
• Reduction of major adverse cardiovascular events (cardiovascular death, non-fatal myocardial infarction, or non-fatal stroke) in adults with established cardiovascular disease and either obesity or overweight.
• Treatment of noncirrhotic metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) with moderate to advanced liver fibrosis in adults.

The Wegovy 1mg Flextouch Pre Filled Pen contains:

• Active ingredient: Semaglutide 1mg.
• Excipients: Disodium hydrogen phosphate dihydrate, Sodium dihydrogen phosphate monohydrate, Phenol, Urea, Water for injection, Sodium chloride, Hydrochloric acid or Sodium hydroxide (for pH adjustment).

Dosage and Administration

1. Administer Wegovy 1mg FlexTouch once weekly, on the same day each week, at any time of day, with or without meals.
2. Inject subcutaneously (under the skin) into the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm. Rotate the injection site with each injection.
3. Your healthcare provider should provide instructions on how to use the pre-filled pen correctly before your first use.
4. Visually inspect the solution before each use; it should be clear and colorless. Do not use if it appears cloudy or colored.
5. If a dose is missed and the next scheduled dose is more than 48 hours away, take the missed dose as soon as possible. If less than 48 hours away, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not take two doses within 3 days.

Storage and Disposal

• Store unopened pens in a refrigerator between 2°C to 8°C (36°F to 46°F).
• Do not freeze Wegovy; discard the pen if it has been frozen.
• Keep the pen cap on when not in use to protect the medicine from light.
• After first use, the pen can be stored for up to 6 weeks at a temperature below 30°C (86°F) or in a refrigerator (2°C to 8°C).
• Dispose of used pens and needles immediately in an FDA-approved sharps disposal container.
• Keep out of reach of children.

Precautions and Safety

• Wegovy may cause possible thyroid tumors, including cancer. Do not use this medicine if you or any of your family have ever had medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC), or if you have Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2).
• This medicine may cause inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis) or gallbladder problems, including gallstones.
• There is a risk of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), especially in patients also taking other diabetes medications such as insulin or sulfonylureas.
• Severe gastrointestinal adverse reactions like nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea can lead to dehydration and kidney problems. Ensure adequate fluid intake.
• Serious allergic reactions, including swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, breathing problems, severe rash, or rapid heartbeat, can occur. Seek immediate medical help if these symptoms appear.
• Wegovy can increase your heart rate while at rest. Report any racing or pounding heart sensations that last for several minutes to your healthcare provider.
• Changes in vision, particularly worsening diabetic retinopathy, may occur in people with type 2 diabetes.
• This medicine is not recommended for patients with severe gastroparesis.
• Never share your Wegovy pen with another person, even if the needle is changed, due to the risk of transmitting blood-borne pathogens.
• The safety and effectiveness of Wegovy in combination with other weight loss products, including prescription drugs, over-the-counter drugs, and herbal preparations, have not been established.

Side Effects and Risks

• Very common side effects include nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, and headache.
• Common side effects include abdominal pain, indigestion, fatigue, dizziness, swollen abdomen, belching, gas, acid reflux, dry mouth, gallstones, hair loss, injection site reactions, altered taste sensation, low blood pressure, and stomach flu.
