VaxiFlu Vaccine 0.5ml

The VaxiFlu Vaccine 0.5ml, manufactured by Zydus Cadila, is a quadrivalent inactivated influenza vaccine designed for active immunization against prevalent influenza A and B subtype viruses. Each 0.5ml dose contains specific strains, including A/Victoria/4897/2022 (H1N1) pdm09-like virus, A/Darwin/9/2021 (H3N2)-like virus, B/Austria/1359417/2021 (B/Victoria lineage)-like virus, and B/Phuket/3073/2013 (B/Yamagata lineage)-like virus, all propagated in fertilized hen's eggs and inactivated by Beta propiolactone. This vaccine is indicated for children from 6 months to 17 years and adults aged 18 years and above, offering protection against seasonal influenza.

Maintaining the cold chain is crucial for the vaccine's efficacy, requiring storage between 2-8 °C and protection from light, with strict instructions not to freeze. The VaxiFlu Vaccine 0.5ml is administered via intramuscular injection, with preferred sites being the anterolateral aspect of the thigh for children 6 months through 35 months, and the deltoid muscle for children from 36 months of age and adults. Annual revaccination is recommended due to the evolving nature of influenza strains.

This vaccine has received regulatory approvals from the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI), the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO), and the Central Drug Laboratory (CDL). It fulfills the serologic parameters established by both the Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) and the World Health Organization (WHO) for all four strains included in the vaccine, as well as criteria set by the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (CBER) for seasonal inactivated influenza vaccine approval.
