Schulke Desderman CHG Solution 100ml contains Chlorhexidine Gluconate 0.5% w/v and Ethanol 70% v/v, providing rapid and persistent broad-spectrum antimicrobial action for hygienic and surgical hand disinfection, as well as skin antisepsis.

The Schulke Desderman CHG Solution 100ml contains:

• Chlorhexidine Gluconate Solution IP 2.5 % v/v (equivalent to Chlorhexidine Gluconate 0.5 % w/v) (active ingredient).
• Ethanol IP 70 % v/v (active ingredient).
• Emollient & moisturising agents.

Dosage and Administration

1. Hygienic Hand Disinfection: Rub a sufficient amount of Desderman CHG Solution 100ml well over clean, dry hands and nail grooves for at least 30 seconds.
2. Surgical Hand Disinfection: Rub a sufficient amount of Desderman CHG Solution 100ml well over clean, dry hands, grooves, and up to elbows for at least 3 minutes.
3. Skin Antisepsis: Apply Desderman CHG Solution 100ml on operative and peri-operative skin regions and allow to dry for 30 seconds before incision. Apply 2-3 times for best results.

Storage and Disposal

• Store at room temperature, not exceeding 25°C.
• Keep in the original container, tightly closed, and away from direct sunlight and moisture.
• Keep away from heat, hot surfaces, sparks, open flames, and other ignition sources. No smoking.
• Keep out of reach of children.
• Dispose of contents/container to an approved waste disposal plant.

Precautions and Safety

• Do not mix Desderman CHG Solution 100ml with detergent or other chemicals.
• Keep out of eyes, ears, and mouth. Avoid direct contact with eyes; if contact occurs, rinse immediately with plenty of cold water.
• Do not swallow the solution.
• Contraindicated in case of known hypersensitivity to chlorhexidine.
• This product is highly flammable; keep away from heat, sparks, open flames, and other ignition sources.
• May cause a severe allergic reaction with symptoms like wheezing, difficulty breathing, shock, facial swelling, hives, or rash. Discontinue use and seek medical help if an allergic reaction occurs.
• Do not use on the genital or anal area.
• Avoid using on wounds that involve more than the superficial layers of the skin.
• Use with care in premature infants or infants under 2 months of age, as it may cause irritation or chemical burns.

Side Effects and Risks

• May cause irritation or chemical burns, particularly in premature infants or infants under 2 months of age.
• Serious and permanent eye injury may occur if the solution is placed or kept in the eye during surgical procedures.
• Deafness may result if instilled in the middle ear through perforated ear drums.
