Olimab 60mg Injection contains Denosumab 60mg, a monoclonal antibody used to treat osteoporosis and prevent bone complications in certain cancer conditions.

Benefits

Olimab 60mg Injection works by inhibiting a protein called RANK ligand, which plays a key role in bone breakdown. This action helps to reduce bone resorption, increase bone mineral density, and strengthen bones, thereby lowering the risk of fractures in individuals with osteoporosis or those at high risk.

Uses and Indications

• Treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and men at increased risk of fractures.
• Treatment of bone loss in men with prostate cancer and women with breast cancer receiving hormonal therapy that causes bone loss.
• Prevention of skeletal-related events in patients with multiple myeloma and bone metastases from solid tumors.
• Treatment of giant cell tumor of the bone that cannot be removed by surgery or when surgery is too risky.
• Treatment of hypercalcemia of malignancy refractory to bisphosphonate treatment.

• Denosumab 60mg (active ingredient).

Dosage and Administration

1. Olimab 60mg Injection is administered as a single subcutaneous injection, typically once every 6 months.
2. The injection should be given by a healthcare professional in the upper arm, upper thigh, or abdomen.
3. Patients should receive daily calcium (1000 mg) and vitamin D (at least 400 IU) supplementation as advised by their doctor.
4. To minimize discomfort, allow the medication to reach room temperature (up to 25°C) before injecting and administer slowly.

Storage and Disposal

• Store Olimab 60mg Injection in a refrigerator between 2°C and 8°C (36°F to 46°F).
• Do not freeze the injection.
• Keep the pre-filled syringe or vial in its original carton to protect it from light.
• If removed from the refrigerator, the product can be stored at room temperature (up to 25°C) for a single period of up to 14 to 30 days, but must be used within this timeframe or discarded.
• Keep out of the sight and reach of children.

Precautions and Safety

• Hypocalcemia (low blood calcium) must be corrected before initiating treatment. Monitor blood calcium levels closely during therapy, especially in patients with kidney impairment.
• Osteonecrosis of the jaw (ONJ) is a rare but serious risk. A dental examination is recommended before starting treatment. Report any new or unusual jaw pain, swelling, or numbness to your doctor.
• Atypical femoral fractures may occur. Report any new or unusual pain in the thigh, hip, or groin to your doctor.
• Serious infections, including skin infections, may occur. Report any signs of infection such as fever, chills, redness, swelling, or warmth of the skin.
• Olimab 60mg Injection is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Women of reproductive potential should use effective contraception during treatment and for at least 5 months after the last dose.

Side Effects and Risks

• Common side effects include muscle aches, back pain, and pain in the arms or legs.
• Serious side effects can include severe hypocalcemia, osteonecrosis of the jaw, atypical femoral fractures, serious infections (e.g., skin, ear, bladder), and severe allergic reactions (rash, hives, swelling of face/throat, difficulty breathing).
