Brand Septodont

Alveogyl, developed by Septodont, is a clinically proven, ready-to-use dental paste designed for the treatment of dry socket (alveolar osteitis) and as a post-extraction dressing. This one-step solution offers rapid pain relief for patients while delivering ease of use and efficiency for dental professionals.

Formulated with butamben, iodoform, eugenol, and Penghawar Djambi fibers, Alveogyl provides immediate soothing action, excellent socket adherence, and gradual self-elimination—eliminating the need for sutures or follow-up removal. Its fibrous consistency ensures optimal retention within the socket, aiding in both pain management and healing of the affected area.

Key Features & Benefits

  • One-Step Application: No mixing or suturing required

  • Rapid Pain Relief: Soothes irritated alveolar tissue almost instantly

  • Self-Eliminating Formula: No need for removal or repeated applications

  • Supports Healing: Promotes tissue regeneration and protects the socket

  • Excellent Retention: Fibrous Penghawar base ensures the dressing stays in place

  • Ideal for Dry Sockets: Especially useful in cases following difficult or traumatic extractions

Indications

  • Treatment of dry socket (alveolar osteitis)

  • Use as a post-extraction dressing in select clinical cases

Contraindications

  • Do not use in patients with a known allergy to any of the components

  • Not intended for use on deciduous teeth (children under 12 years of age)

  • Routine use as a post-extraction dressing is contraindicated

Important: Alveogyl should only be applied by dental professionals.

  1. Clean the Extraction Site

After tooth extraction, thoroughly clean the socket to remove any debris, residual tissue, or blood clots. Ensure the area is free of contaminants.

  2. Dry the Socket

Gently dry the socket using sterile gauze or cotton pellets. A dry site ensures optimal adhesion of the Alveogyl paste.

  3. Apply Alveogyl

Using a sterile applicator or gloved finger, place a small amount of Alveogyl directly into the socket. Fill the socket completely and ensure the paste covers the exposed alveolar bone.

  4. Smooth and Pack Gently

Lightly press and smooth the paste to ensure even coverage. Avoid excessive pressure to prevent dislodging any remaining blood clot or damaging surrounding tissue.

  5. Post-Application Care

    • Do not rinse, spit forcefully, or disturb the site for at least 24 hours after application.

    • Advise the patient not to touch the area with their tongue or fingers.

    • Normal eating and drinking can resume, but with caution to avoid the treated site.

  6. Leave In Place

Alveogyl is self-eliminating and does not require removal. It gradually dissolves while providing a protective, soothing barrier that supports healing and reduces pain.
