Dosage and Administration

  1. Preparation: Clean and thoroughly dry the affected area before applying the ointment.
  2. Application: Apply a thin layer of Cipladine 5% Ointment directly to the affected skin area.
  3. Frequency: Use 1 to 3 times daily, or as specifically directed by your healthcare provider.
  4. Post-Application: Allow the ointment to dry naturally. If necessary, the treated area can be covered with a sterile bandage. Wash your hands thoroughly before and after application, unless your hands are the area being treated.
  5. Caution: Avoid direct contact of the container tip with the infected area to prevent contamination.

 

Storage and Disposal

  • Store Cipladine 5% Ointment at room temperature, ideally between 15°C and 30°C.
  • Keep it in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and excessive heat or moisture.
  • Ensure the container is tightly closed in its original packaging.

Precautions and Safety

  • This ointment is for external use only; avoid ingestion.
  • Do not use if you have a known allergy to povidone-iodine, polyvinyl pyrrolidone, or any other ingredients in the formulation.
  • Consult your doctor before use if you have a thyroid condition (e.g., goitre, Hashimoto's disease, hypothyroidism) or are currently undergoing lithium therapy.
  • Avoid applying to large areas of the body, deep puncture wounds, animal bites, or severe/extensive burns without explicit medical supervision, as this may lead to excessive absorption of iodine.
  • Do not use on newborn babies or children under 2 years old.
  • Avoid contact with sensitive areas such as the eyes, mouth, nose, or genital regions. In case of accidental contact, rinse the affected area thoroughly with plenty of clean water.
  • Do not use this ointment simultaneously with other topical products containing silver, mercury, or hydrogen peroxide, as interactions may occur.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, seek advice from a doctor or pharmacist before using this product.
  • If the wound shows signs of worsening infection or does not improve after 14 days of use, discontinue and consult your doctor.

 

Side Effects and Risks

  • Common side effects include mild, temporary skin irritation, redness, itching, peeling skin, dry skin, or inflamed skin at the application site.
  • Other reported effects may include rashes, acne eruption, pruritus, and erythema.
  • In rare instances, severe burning, swelling, or signs of an allergic reaction may occur; if these develop, stop using the product immediately and consult a doctor.
  • Frequent use, especially in individuals with pre-existing thyroid problems, may lead to thyroid imbalances.
