Medical Device & Equipment
Pulse oximetry, a non-invasive test, offers a swift measurement of blood oxygen saturation levels. This test detects subtle changes in oxygen levels, gauging the effectiveness of oxygen transportation to the body's extremities. The fingertip pulse oximeter, a compact, clip-like device, is typically attached to a finger. Widely employed in critical care settings like emergency rooms, hospitals, and by medical professionals, it's also suitable for home use. Pulmonologists may incorporate pulse...

The fingertip pulse oximeter, a compact, clip-like device, is typically attached to a finger. Blood Oxygen Saturation (SpO2): Your SpO2 reading reflects the finger oxygen monitor level in your blood. A reading of 95% or higher is considered normal, while 94% or less suggests low blood oxygen saturation, especially at sea level. Individuals at higher altitudes may exhibit lower SpO2 readings.
Pulse Rate (PR): PR measures the heart's contractions per minute. Normal pulse rate values for adults range from 60-100 bpm. A lower resting heart rate indicates more efficient heart function and better cardiovascular fitness.
Pulse Bar Graph: The visual representation of your pulse beat, the pulse bar graph assesses the reliability of a reading. The graph's height correlates with pulse strength, ideally reaching at least 30% for a reliable reading.
Plethysmograph: A Plethysmograph is an SpO2 waveform that represents the blood flow detected by the fingertip pulse oximeter. Each wave corresponds to a heartbeat, and the wave amplitude indicates the amount of blood detected. An optimal pulse oximeter reading occurs when the wave amplitude height is consistent throughout.
Alarm: The alarm feature enables users to set a range for SpO2 and PR parameters. It triggers when the SpO2 or PR reading exceeds the defined range, providing an alert for abnormal readings.
Ease of Use: Choose a pulse oximeter that is easy to use and interpret, particularly if you have a chronic health condition or need to monitor oxygen levels frequently. Ensure it is user-friendly and does not require constant adjustments.
Fit: The oximeter should fit well on your finger, open wide enough, close snugly but not too tightly, and remain in place during readings. A comfortable fit is crucial for accurate results.
Accuracy: Prioritize accuracy when selecting a pulse oximeter. The cost does not necessarily determine accuracy. Look for features that ensure sufficient light transmission, and perform a test for reading consistency by taking readings consecutively.
Data Display: Select a device with a large and clear display for easy reading. Consider whether the oximeter...
