Dosage and Administration

  1. Zostum 1gm Injection is administered by a doctor or nurse, either intravenously (as a drip or direct injection into a vein) or intramuscularly (into a muscle).
  2. The prescribing doctor will determine the correct dose and duration based on the infection's severity, patient's age, weight, and kidney/liver function.
  3. Complete the full course of treatment as prescribed, even if symptoms improve before the end.

 

Storage and Disposal

  • Store below 25°C and protect from light.
  • Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
  • Do not freeze.
  • Any unused portion should be discarded properly; do not store for later use.

Precautions and Safety

  • Inform your doctor about any pre-existing health conditions, especially impaired kidney function, severe liver disease, severe biliary obstruction, or bleeding disorders.
  • Do not consume alcohol during treatment and for at least 72 hours after the last injection, as it can cause adverse reactions like flushing, sweating, headache, or fast heartbeats.
  • Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, as Zostum 1gm Injection should be used with caution.
  • Avoid if you have a known allergy to cefoperazone, sulbactam, penicillins, or other cephalosporin antibiotics.
  • Monitor kidney function if used concomitantly with aminoglycoside antibiotics.

 

Side Effects and Risks

  • Common side effects include diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, and pain or inflammation at the injection site.
  • Other reported side effects include headache, fever, chills, rash, itching, oral candidiasis, decreased haemoglobin, and decreased platelet count.
  • Seek immediate medical attention if you experience severe allergic reactions (e.g., sudden swelling of face/throat, difficulty breathing, severe rash), persistent bleeding, or severe watery/bloody diarrhoea.
