Dosage and Administration

1. Supacef 1.5gm Injection is administered by a healthcare professional as an intravenous infusion (drip) or as an injection directly into a vein or a muscle.
2. Your doctor will determine the correct dose and frequency based on your age, body weight, and the severity of the infection.
3. It is crucial to use this medicine regularly at evenly spaced intervals as prescribed. Do not skip any doses and complete the full course of treatment, even if you start to feel better, to ensure the infection is fully eradicated and to prevent the development of antibiotic resistance.
4. For adults, the usual dosage ranges from 750 mg to 1.5 grams every 8 hours, typically for 5 to 10 days. For severe or complicated infections, a 1.5 gram dose every 8 hours is often recommended.
5. No more than 750 mg should be injected at a single intramuscular site.

Side Effects and Risks

• Common side effects include rash, vomiting, diarrhea, increased liver enzymes, nausea, and temporary redness or pain at the injection site. These are usually mild and transient.
• Other reported side effects include headache, weakness, dizziness, chills, difficult or painful urination, shortness of breath, changes in taste, stomach pain, acid or sour stomach, and thrombophlebitis with intravenous administration.
• Seek immediate medical attention if you experience severe side effects such as watery or bloody stools, stomach cramps, fever during or after treatment, seizures, severe allergic reactions (hives, swelling of the face/throat/tongue/lips/eyes, difficulty swallowing or breathing, hoarseness), decreased urination, swelling in legs and feet, peeling/blistering/shedding skin, or a return of fever, sore throat, or chills.
