The Meril Filaprop Suture is a monofilament, synthetic non-absorbable, sterile surgical suture composed of an isotactic crystalline stereoisomer of polypropylene, a synthetic linear polyolefin. These sutures are designed for general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including use in cardiovascular, ophthalmic, and neurological procedures.

Known for their biocompatibility, polypropylene sutures reduce the risk of tissue reaction and initiate minimal tissue inflammation. The inert nature of polypropylene minimizes the risk of infection, making it suitable for long-term support in tissues that require extended healing.

This sterile surgical suture complies with the requirements of the United States Pharmacopeia for “Non Absorbable Surgical Suture” and the European Pharmacopeia for “Sterile Synthetic Non Absorbable monofilament Strand.” It is intended for single-use only to prevent cross-contamination. The product also holds a Health Canada Class IV licence and is CE marked.
