Polyglecaprone 25 is a synthetic, absorbable suture material commonly
used in various surgical procedures. Composed of a copolymer of
glycolide and epsilon-caprolactone, Polyglecaprone 25 exhibits excellent
tensile strength and knot security. Its absorption occurs through
hydrolysis, and the suture typically retains approximately 50% of its
strength at 7 days and is fully absorbed within 90 to 120 days. This
suture type is widely employed for soft tissue approximation,
particularly in surgeries where prolonged wound support is not
necessary.
