Lenalid 25mg Capsule 30's

Lenalid 25mg Capsule contains Lenalidomide 25mg, an immunomodulatory agent used to treat certain blood cancers and bone marrow disorders.

Benefits

Lenalid 25mg Capsule works by modifying the immune system's response and directly suppressing abnormal cell growth. It activates T cells and natural killer cells, facilitating an attack on cancer cells. The medicine also inhibits the growth of new blood vessels in tumors and promotes cancer cell death, helping to manage symptoms and improve quality of life for patients with chronic bone marrow disorders.

Uses and Indications

• Multiple myeloma (MM)
• Transfusion-dependent anemia due to low- or intermediate-1-risk myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) associated with a deletion 5q abnormality
• Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL), particularly relapsed or refractory cases
• Follicular lymphoma (FL), in combination with a rituximab product

The Lenalid 25mg Capsule contains:

• Lenalidomide 25mg (active ingredient)
• Excipients: lactose anhydrous, microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, magnesium stearate.

Dosage and Administration

1. Take Lenalid 25mg Capsule orally with water, with or without food.
2. Swallow the capsule whole; do not open, break, or chew it.
3. Take the medicine at about the same time each day.
4. The exact dosage and duration of treatment will be determined by your doctor based on your medical condition and response to therapy.
5. If a dose is missed and it has been less than 12 hours since the regular time, take it as soon as you remember. If more than 12 hours have passed, skip the missed dose and take the next dose at the usual time the following day. Do not take two doses at the same time.

Storage and Disposal

• Store at room temperature, between 20°C and 25°C (68°F and 77°F). Brief excursions are permitted between 15°C and 30°C (59°F and 86°F).
• Keep containers tightly closed in a dry, cool, and well-ventilated place.
• Keep out of reach of children.
• Dispose of the medicine and its packaging according to local regulations.

Precautions and Safety

• Embryo-Fetal Toxicity: Lenalidomide is a thalidomide analogue and is contraindicated during pregnancy due to the high risk of severe birth defects or embryo-fetal death. Females of reproductive potential must have two negative pregnancy tests before starting treatment and use two reliable forms of contraception or continuously abstain from heterosexual sex during and for 4 weeks after treatment. Males taking lenalidomide must use a latex condom during any sexual contact with females of childbearing potential, even if they have had a vasectomy, and continue for 4 weeks after treatment ends. This medicine is available only through a restricted distribution program (REMS program in the US) due to its teratogenic risk.
• Hematologic Toxicity: Lenalidomide can cause significant neutropenia (low white blood cells) and thrombocytopenia (low platelets), which increases the risk of infection and bleeding. Your doctor will monitor your complete blood counts (CBC) weekly for the first 8 weeks of therapy and at least monthly thereafter.
• Venous and Arterial Thromboembolism: There is an increased risk of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), pulmonary embolism (PE), myocardial infarction, and stroke with lenalidomide. Your doctor may recommend anti-thrombotic prophylaxis.
• Liver Damage: Liver damage (hepatotoxicity) can occur. Inform your doctor if you have a history of liver problems.
• Severe Skin Reactions: Severe skin reactions, including angioedema, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, and Drug Reaction with Eosinophilia and Systemic Symptoms (DRESS), have been reported.
• Other Precautions: Inform your doctor if you have kidney conditions, a history of stroke, high cholesterol levels, thyroid conditions, or high blood pressure. Do not donate blood during treatment and for four weeks after your last dose.

Side Effects and Risks

• Common side effects include fatigue, weakness, tiredness, dizziness, headache, constipation, diarrhea, nausea, low appetite, muscle cramps, rash, cough, fever, back pain, joint pain, trouble sleeping, and nosebleeds.
• Serious side effects can include severely low blood cell counts (neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, anemia), blood clots (DVT, PE, stroke, heart attack), severe allergic reactions (e.g., swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat; breathing problems; hives), liver damage, new cancers (secondary primary malignancies), tumor lysis syndrome, and tumor flare.
• Consult your doctor if any side effects persist or worsen.
