Dosage and Administration

  1. The usual recommended dose is 100 mg, taken orally approximately every 12 hours.
  2. Swallow the capsule whole with water; do not open, break, or chew it.
  3. Acabrunat 100mg Capsule may be taken with or without food.
  4. If a dose is missed by more than 3 hours, skip the missed dose and take the next dose at its regularly scheduled time. Do not take a double dose to compensate.

 

Storage and Disposal

  • Store at room temperature, below 30°C, away from excess heat, light, and moisture.
  • Keep this medication out of the sight and reach of children.

Precautions and Safety

  • Regular blood tests are necessary to monitor blood cell counts, as well as kidney, liver, and heart functions during treatment.
  • This medicine may increase the risk of bleeding; monitor for any unusual bruising or bleeding.
  • There is an increased susceptibility to infections; avoid close contact with individuals who are ill.
  • Acalabrutinib may cause changes in heart rhythm; report any symptoms of arrhythmias to your doctor.
  • Avoid consuming grapefruit and grapefruit juice while on this medication.
  • Use effective contraception during treatment and for at least one week after the last dose for women, and avoid breastfeeding for two weeks after the last dose.
  • Inform your doctor about all other medications, including over-the-counter drugs and herbal products, due to potential drug interactions.
  • Avoid concomitant use with proton pump inhibitors (PPIs). If antacids are used, take Acabrunat at least 2 hours before or after. If H2-receptor antagonists are used, take Acabrunat 2 hours before.
  • Use sun protection as this medication may increase the risk of skin cancer.
  • Avoid administration in patients with severe hepatic impairment.

 

Side Effects and Risks

  • Common side effects include headache, fatigue, diarrhea, musculoskeletal pain, anemia, neutropenia, upper respiratory tract infection, and thrombocytopenia.
  • Serious side effects can include severe bleeding, serious infections (such as pneumonia or sepsis), high blood pressure, and heart problems (including irregular heartbeat or chest pain), and kidney failure.
