Uses and Indications

• Impetigo, a contagious skin infection.

• Boils and ecthyma.
• Infected eczema and other infected dermatoses.
• Infected traumatic lesions, including abrasions, insect bites, minor wounds, and burns.

The T Bact 2% 5gm Ointment contains:

• Mupirocin I.P. 2% w/w (active ingredient).
• Excipients: Polyethylene Glycol 3350, Polyethylene Glycol 400.

Dosage and Administration

1. Apply a small amount of T Bact 2% 5gm Ointment to cover the affected area three times daily.
2. The treated area may be covered with a gauze dressing if desired.
3. Wash your hands thoroughly before and after applying the ointment.
4. Treatment duration is typically up to 10 days, depending on the response. Re-evaluate if no clinical improvement is observed within 3 to 5 days.

Storage and Disposal

• Store the ointment at room temperature, ideally between 20°C and 25°C (68°F and 77°F).
• Keep it away from heat, moisture, and direct sunlight. Do not freeze.
• Keep out of the reach of children and pets.
• Discard any remaining product at the end of the treatment course.

Precautions and Safety

• This ointment is for external use on the skin only. Avoid contact with eyes, nose, mouth, or other mucosal surfaces. If accidental contact occurs, rinse the affected area thoroughly with water.
• Discontinue use and consult a doctor if irritation, severe itching, or a rash develops at the application site.
• Prolonged use of T Bact 2% 5gm Ointment may lead to an overgrowth of non-susceptible microorganisms, including fungi.
• Use with caution on large areas of broken skin, especially in patients with moderate to severe renal impairment, due to the potential for polyethylene glycol absorption.

Side Effects and Risks

• Common local side effects include burning, stinging, pain, itching, rash, redness, dryness, tenderness, or swelling at the application site.
• Rarely, systemic allergic reactions such as hives, swelling of the face, lips, or tongue, trouble breathing, or dizziness have been reported. Seek immediate medical attention if these occur.
• Diarrhea, including Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea, can occur with antibiotic use, even weeks after treatment has stopped. Inform your doctor if you experience persistent or severe diarrhea.
