Pyrax Polycarboxylate Cement is a temporary restorative dental material designed for various dental applications. This dual-component cement, consisting of a powder and a liquid, is based on polycarboxylate technology, offering a temporary solution for restoring teeth and supporting the overall integrity of the dentition. It is primarily used for the cementation of crowns, bridges, inlays, and orthodontic brackets, as well as serving as a cavity lining under all restorative materials.

The formulation of Pyrax Polycarboxylate Cement is biocompatible, which helps in minimizing the risk of adverse reactions or sensitivity for patients. It is known to cause minimal or no pulp irritation, even when applied on freshly cut dentine, due to the weak acidic nature of polyacrylic acid and the large size of its chains, which do not readily penetrate dentinal tubules. This cement also forms a chemical bond with both enamel and dentin, ensuring secure adhesion.

This polycarboxylate cement is also suitable for temporary fillings, including direct and indirect pulp-capping, providing stability and protection to prepared teeth until a permanent restoration can be placed.
