Dosage and Administration

  1. Take Cefix 200mg Tablet strictly as directed by your doctor.
  2. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water; do not cut, break, or chew it.
  3. This medicine can be taken with or without food.
  4. For adults and children over 10 years or weighing more than 50 kg, the recommended dosage is 200-400 mg daily, which can be given as a single dose or in two divided doses, depending on the infection's severity.
  5. Always complete the full course of treatment, even if symptoms improve, to prevent the development of antibiotic resistance.

  • Store Cefix 200mg tablets at room temperature, away from moisture and heat.

  • Severe skin reactions, such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis, have been reported; discontinue the medication and seek medical attention if these occur.

 

Side Effects and Risks

  • Common side effects include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, headache, and dizziness.
  • Rare but serious side effects can include severe allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling, difficulty breathing), persistent diarrhea, bloody stools, or yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice).
  • Watery or bloody stools, stomach cramps, or fever occurring during or up to two months after treatment may indicate a serious infection (Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea); seek immediate medical help if these symptoms develop.
