Biovac A 0.5ml Vaccine 0.5ml Injection

Biovac A 0.5ml Vaccine is a live attenuated vaccine indicated for active immunization against Hepatitis A, a contagious liver infection caused by the hepatitis A virus (HAV). It is formulated from the H2 attenuated strain of the Hepatitis A virus, propagated in human diploid cells, to stimulate the body's immune system to produce protective antibodies.

This vaccine is suitable for adults and children aged 1 year and older seeking protection against Hepatitis A. It is administered as a single 0.5ml dose via subcutaneous injection, typically over the deltoid muscle of the upper arm.

Biovac A 0.5ml Vaccine requires cold-chain storage, maintaining a temperature between +2°C and +8°C, protected from light, and must not be frozen. The vaccine is supplied as a freeze-dried powder and requires reconstitution with 0.5ml sterile water for injection, which is provided with the vial, and should be used within 1 hour after reconstitution.

Biovac A Vaccine comprises a weakened hepatitis A virus (inactivated but immunogenic) suspended in a buffered saline solution, accompanied by stabilizers and trace amounts of preservatives to maintain potency.

This is an intramuscular injection (site of administration for this drug is muscle; most administered to deltoid muscle i.e. upper arm).

Step 1: Locate & Clean 2-inch area around the site with alcohol swab or pad.

Step 2: Prepare and plunge-in the drug into syringe from the vial.

Step 3: Insert the needle & plunge-out at a 90° angle to the skin with a quick thrust.

Step 4: Withdraw the needle at the same angle & press a cotton ball over site.
