3M Unitek Transbond XT Adhesive Primer is an orthodontic adhesive primer specifically formulated to enhance the bond strength between orthodontic brackets and tooth surfaces. This primer is utilized by orthodontists and dental professionals to optimize the adhesive bonding process, ensuring reliable and long-lasting orthodontic treatments.

The primer employs an advanced formulation with carefully selected chemical compounds that promote the interaction between the bracket and the tooth enamel. Safety data sheets indicate the presence of acrylates in its composition. The product is not made with natural rubber latex and complies with the United States Food Allergy Labeling and Consumer Protection Act of 2004, with no intentionally added milk, egg, fish, crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, wheat, peanuts, or soybeans.

Prepare the tooth surface by etching it with an appropriate dental etchant according to standard orthodontic bonding procedures. Rinse the etchant thoroughly and ensure the tooth surface is clean and free from debris. Apply a small amount of Transbond MIP Primer from the bottle onto the etched surface using an applicator brush. Ensure even coverage of the primer across the entire etched area. Allow the primer to dry for the recommended time specified by the manufacturer. Once the primer is dry, proceed with applying the orthodontic adhesive (e.g., Transbond XT Light Cure Adhesive or APC Adhesive Coated Appliance System) according to the manufacturer's instructions. Place the orthodontic appliance or bracket onto the primed and adhesive-coated tooth surface and position it correctly. Cure the adhesive using an appropriate curing light following the recommended curing time. Remove any excess adhesive and clean the surrounding area. Verify the bond strength and adjust the appliance as necessary.
