Zopiverb Tablet 10's contains Zopiclone 7.5mg, a non-benzodiazepine hypnotic used for the short-term treatment of insomnia.

The Zopiverb Tablet 10's contains:

• Zopiclone IP 7.5 mg (active ingredient).
• Excipients: lactose monohydrate and other inactive ingredients.

Dosage and Administration

1. Adults: Take one Zopiclone 7.5mg tablet orally, just before bedtime. This dose should not be exceeded.
2. Elderly and Patients with Hepatic or Renal Impairment: A lower starting dose of 3.75 mg (half a 7.5mg tablet) is recommended. The dose may be increased to 7.5 mg if clinically necessary and well-tolerated.
3. Administration: Swallow the tablet whole with a drink of water. Do not crush or chew.
4. Timing: Take only when a full 7 to 8 hours of sleep is possible before needing to be active again. Do not take a second dose during the same night.
5. Duration: Treatment should be as short as possible, typically ranging from 2 days to 3 weeks, and generally not exceeding 4 weeks due to the risk of dependence.

Storage and Disposal

• Store below 25°C (room temperature), in a dry place, and protected from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture.
• Keep the tablets in their original packaging.
• Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
• Dispose of any unused or expired medicine safely; do not store leftover portions.

Precautions and Safety

• This medicine may cause drowsiness, dizziness, and impaired concentration or reflexes the following day. Avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery, especially within 12 hours of administration.
• Alcohol can significantly enhance the sedative effects of Zopiclone; therefore, refrain from consuming alcohol during treatment.
• The risk of developing physical and psychological dependence increases with higher doses and prolonged treatment, particularly beyond 4 weeks, or in individuals with a history of mental disorders or substance abuse.
• Do not discontinue treatment abruptly, as this may lead to withdrawal symptoms such as rebound insomnia, anxiety, agitation, or tremors. Consult your doctor for a gradual dose reduction.
• Use with caution in elderly or debilitated patients, and those with pre-existing liver, kidney, or chronic respiratory conditions, as they may require a lower dose.
• Rare cases of complex sleep-related behaviours, such as sleepwalking, eating, or driving while not fully awake, have been reported. If these occur, discontinue the medicine and seek medical advice immediately.
• Concomitant use with opioid medicines can lead to severe drowsiness, decreased awareness, respiratory depression, coma, and death. This combination should only be used if other treatment options are inadequate, under strict medical supervision.
• If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine.

Side Effects and Risks

• Common side effects include a mild bitter or metallic taste in the mouth, dry mouth, drowsiness, and feeling tired or less alert the next day.
• Less common or rare side effects may include nausea, vomiting, dizziness, confusion, headache, muscle pain, skin rash, allergic reactions, restlessness, anger, nightmares, hallucinations, memory problems, slurred speech, changes in libido, tremor, visual disturbances, and gastrointestinal disturbances.
• Seek immediate medical attention if you experience severe allergic reactions (e.g., swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, difficulty breathing), severe mental health changes (e.g., hallucinations, delusions, severe depression, suicidal thoughts), or difficulty breathing.
