Tetraxim 0.5ml Vaccine Injection is a quadrivalent combination vaccine designed for active immunization against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), and poliomyelitis (polio). It is indicated for primary vaccination in infants from 2 months of age and for booster vaccinations in children up to 13 years of age, according to official recommendations.

Each 0.5ml dose contains purified Diphtheria Toxoid (≥ 30 IU), Tetanus Toxoid (≥ 40 IU), Bordetella pertussis antigens (Pertussis toxoid 25 µg, Filamentous haemagglutinin 25 µg), and Inactivated Poliomyelitis virus (Type 1 (Mahoney strain) 40 DU, Type 2 (MEF-1 strain) 8 DU, Type 3 (Saukett strain) 32 DU). These antigens are adsorbed on aluminium hydroxide, hydrated. The vaccine is presented as a whitish-turbid suspension in a pre-filled syringe, requiring shaking before intramuscular administration.

The vaccine is administered via the intramuscular route, preferably in the antero-lateral side of the thigh for infants and the deltoid area for children. Primary vaccination typically involves three injections at one-month intervals, usually at 2, 3, and 4 months of age. Booster doses are recommended one year after primary vaccination (between 16 and 18 months) and again between 5 and 13 years of age, as per official guidelines.
