Why adjustable amplitude

In a conventional bubble CPAP machine, bubble generation depends on the set flow of blended gas. That flow cannot be raised just to create more bubbles, for the safety of the newborn. Humming Bee solves this. It maintains the preset pressure set by the clinician and creates more bubbles in the CPAP generator bottle without increasing the bias flow.

The extra bubbles come from a separate air flow, introduced into the generator bottle through a separate pressure regulator. This extra air flow is not bias flow or blended gas flow, and it does not alter the preset pressure. The clinician can increase the amplitude (Delta P) independently, which helps in better gas exchange than is possible with conventional bubble CPAP.

HFO effect without intubation

In adjustable amplitude mode, Humming Bee provides a high frequency oscillatory ventilation effect on bubble CPAP. This is a non-invasive HFO effect, also called NI-HFO or non-invasive HFOV, delivered while the baby breathes spontaneously.

What is a bubble CPAP with adjustable amplitude?
