Roko Capsule 10's

Roko Capsule 10's contains Loperamide 2mg, an antidiarrheal medication used to control and relieve symptoms of various types of diarrhea.

Uses and Indications

• Symptomatic treatment of acute diarrhea, including traveler's diarrhea.
• Management of chronic diarrhea associated with inflammatory bowel disease.
• Reducing the volume of discharge from ileostomies.

The Roko Capsule 10's contains:

• Loperamide Hydrochloride IP 2 mg (active ingredient).
• Inactive ingredients may include lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, pregelatinized corn starch, titanium dioxide, iron oxides, gelatin, shellac, and dimethylpolysiloxane.

Dosage and Administration

1. Adults and children 12 years and over: Take two capsules (4 mg) initially after the first loose stool. Follow with one capsule (2 mg) after each subsequent loose stool.
2. Maximum Dose: Do not exceed 6 capsules (12 mg) in a 24-hour period for over-the-counter use, or 8 capsules (16 mg) if prescribed by a doctor.
3. Administration: Swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water, with or without food.
4. Hydration: Drink plenty of clear fluids to help prevent dehydration caused by diarrhea.
5. Consult a Doctor: Discontinue use and consult a doctor if symptoms do not improve within 48 hours.

Storage and Disposal

• Store at room temperature, ideally between 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F).
• Protect from light and moisture, and avoid excessive heat above 40°C (104°F).
• Keep this medicine out of the reach and sight of children.

Precautions and Safety

• Do not exceed the recommended dose; taking too much Loperamide can lead to serious heart problems.
• Avoid use in children under 12 years of age unless specifically prescribed by a doctor.
• Use with caution if you have liver impairment, as effects may be increased due to slower removal of the medicine from the body.
• Discontinue immediately if constipation, abdominal distension, or ileus (bowel obstruction) develops.
• Do not use for diarrhea accompanied by high fever or bloody stools, or in cases of acute dysentery, acute ulcerative colitis, or bacterial enterocolitis.
• This medicine may cause dizziness or drowsiness; exercise caution when driving or operating machinery.
• Consult a doctor if symptoms worsen or persist for more than 2 days.

Side Effects and Risks

• Common side effects include constipation, nausea, headache, stomach pain or cramps, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, and flatulence.
• Rare but serious side effects can include skin rash, allergic reactions (including anaphylaxis), urinary retention, paralytic ileus, toxic megacolon, and serious heart rhythm problems (e.g., irregular heartbeat, QT prolongation) with overdose.
