Dosage and Administration

Rocunium 50mg 5ml Injection is for intravenous use only and must be administered by experienced clinicians or trained individuals supervised by an experienced clinician. The dosage is individualized based on the patient's condition, the type of anesthesia used, and the expected duration of the procedure. A peripheral nerve stimulator is recommended to monitor drug effect and guide dosing. It can be given as a single injection or a continuous infusion.

 

Storage and Disposal

  • Store unopened vials in a refrigerator between 2°C to 8°C (36°F to 46°F).
  • Do not freeze the injection.
  • Protect from light by keeping the vial in its outer carton.
  • If removed from refrigeration to room temperature (up to 25°C/77°F), use within 60 days.
  • Use opened vials within 30 days.
  • Infusion solutions prepared with Rocunium Bromide should be used within 24 hours of mixing.
  • Discard any unused portions of the solution.

Precautions and Safety

  • Rocunium 50mg 5ml Injection should only be administered by experienced clinicians with immediate access to facilities for intubation, mechanical ventilation, oxygen therapy, and an antagonist.
  • Do not administer to patients who are not adequately sedated or under general anesthesia, as it has no effect on consciousness or pain perception.
  • Inform your doctor if you have a history of hypersensitivity to rocuronium bromide or other neuromuscular blocking agents.
  • Exercise caution in patients with burns, electrolyte abnormalities, asthma, cardiovascular disease, liver disease, myasthenia gravis, paralytic disorder, pulmonary impairment, obesity, or advanced age.
  • Pregnant or breastfeeding women should use this medication only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus or infant.
  • Avoid driving or operating heavy machinery for a certain period after receiving this medication, as it may cause tiredness, weakness, or dizziness.

 

Side Effects and Risks

  • Common side effects may include transient hypotension or hypertension, lightheadedness, headache, blurred vision, anxiety, confusion, muscle weakness, and pain or irritation at the injection site.
  • Serious side effects, though rare, can include allergic reactions (rash, itching, hives, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, difficulty breathing, anaphylaxis), prolonged muscle weakness (myopathy, especially with long-term ICU use or concurrent steroid use), high fever, fast or irregular heartbeat, and circulatory collapse.
  • Report any unusual or severe symptoms to your healthcare provider immediately.
