The Rifaximin 200mg Tablet contains:

• Rifaximin IP 200 mg (active ingredient).
• Excipients: Colloidal silicon dioxide, disodium edetate, glycerol palmitostearate, hypromellose, microcrystalline cellulose, propylene glycol, red iron oxide, sodium starch glycolate, talc, and titanium dioxide.

Dosage and Administration

1. For Traveler's Diarrhea: Take one 200 mg tablet orally three times a day for 3 days.
2. Administration: Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water, with or without food. Do not chew or crush the tablet.
3. Course Completion: Complete the full prescribed course of treatment, even if symptoms improve earlier, to ensure the infection is fully cleared.
4. Other Indications: For other conditions like hepatic encephalopathy or irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhea, consult your doctor for specific dosage instructions.

Storage and Disposal

• Store Rifaximin 200mg Tablet at controlled room temperature, between 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F). Excursions are permitted to 15°C to 30°C (59°F to 86°F).
• Keep the medication in its original container, tightly closed, and protect it from excess heat, light, and moisture.
• Keep out of reach of children and pets.
• Dispose of unneeded or expired medication responsibly; do not flush down the toilet unless instructed.

Precautions and Safety

• Do not use Rifaximin 200mg Tablet if you have a fever or bloody diarrhea.
• This antibiotic treats only bacterial infections and will not work for viral infections such as colds or flu.
• If your symptoms worsen or do not improve after 1 to 2 days of treatment for traveler's diarrhea, or if you develop fever or bloody diarrhea, contact your doctor immediately.

Side Effects and Risks

• Common side effects may include nausea, stomach pain, dizziness, excessive tiredness, headache, muscle tightening, joint pain, wind, abdominal bloating, constipation, diarrhea, and fever.
• Seek immediate medical attention if you experience serious side effects such as watery or bloody diarrhea (which may occur during or up to 2 months after treatment), hives, rash, severe itching, difficulty breathing or swallowing, swelling of the face, throat, tongue, lips, eyes, hands, feet, ankles, or lower legs, or hoarseness.
• Rarely, severe skin reactions like Stevens-Johnson syndrome or toxic epidermal necrolysis, characterized by red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin, may occur.
• Treatment with any antibiotic, including Rifaximin, can lead to Clostridioides difficile-associated diarrhea (CDAD), which can range from mild to life-threatening.
