The Recombigen Cholesterol (EP 90 Days) assay uses the CHOD-POD method (Cholesterol Oxidase-Peroxidase) to quantitatively measure total cholesterol levels in serum, plasma, or other biological fluids. This method is based on the enzymatic oxidation of cholesterol by Cholesterol Oxidase (CHOD), which produces hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂). The peroxidase (POD) then reacts with the H₂O₂ and a chromogen to form a colored complex, the intensity of which is proportional to the cholesterol concentration in the sample.
