Poviend 5% 500ml Solution contains Povidone Iodine 5% w/v, an antiseptic used to prevent and treat minor wounds and skin infections.

The Poviend 5% 500ml Solution contains:

• Povidone Iodine 5% w/v (0.5% available iodine) (active ingredient).
• Excipients: Purified water, citric acid, dibasic sodium phosphate, glycerin, nonoxynol-9, sodium chloride, sodium hydroxide.

Dosage and Administration

1. For topical use only. Clean and dry the affected area thoroughly before application.
2. Apply the solution uniformly on the skin. Allow it to dry completely before covering with a bandage. Do not apply a tight bandage.
3. Use as directed by your healthcare professional, typically one to three times daily.
4. Avoid prolonged use over large areas of the body. Do not use on deep wounds, puncture wounds, animal bites, or serious burns.
5. Avoid direct contact with eyes, nose, or mouth. In case of accidental contact, rinse thoroughly with water.

Storage and Disposal

• Store at controlled room temperature, between 15°C-30°C (59°F-86°F).
• Protect from light and keep the container tightly closed when not in use.
• Do not freeze or store at excessive heat, above 40°C (104°F).
• Keep out of reach of children.

Precautions and Safety

• For external use only. Do not use if you have a known allergy to iodine or any other ingredient in the formulation.
• Avoid prolonged use, especially over large areas of the body, as this may lead to increased iodine absorption and potentially affect thyroid function.
• Consult a doctor before use if you have a thyroid condition.
• Do not use concurrently with other skin products containing mercury, silver, or hydrogen peroxide, as interactions may occur.
• Not recommended for use in pregnant women under 32 weeks' gestation or on newborn babies. Consult a doctor if pregnant or breastfeeding.

• If used on large wounds, there is a potential for systemic absorption leading to kidney problems, high blood sodium, and metabolic acidosis.
