• Diluted Nitroglycerin IP 25 mg/mL (active ingredient).

Dosage and Administration

1. Nitroford 25mg Injection 5ml is a concentrated, potent drug and must be diluted in 5% Dextrose Injection, USP or 0.9% Sodium Chloride Injection, USP prior to intravenous infusion.
2. It should be administered only via an infusion pump that can maintain a constant infusion rate.
3. The initial adult dosage is typically 5 mcg/min, with subsequent titration guided by clinical response. The dose must be decided by the prescribing doctor.
4. Use glass bottles for dilution and infusion, and special non-absorptive (non-PVC) tubing to prevent drug absorption.

Storage and Disposal

• Store between 15°C and 30°C (controlled room temperature).
• Protect from freezing and light; retain in the carton until time of use.
• Discard all unused solution after 24 hours of dilution.
• Keep out of reach of children.

Precautions and Safety

• Severe hypotension and shock may occur, even with small doses; patients who are volume depleted or already hypotensive require careful monitoring.
• This medicine is contraindicated in patients with known allergy to nitroglycerin, pericardial tamponade, restrictive cardiomyopathy, constrictive pericarditis, or increased intracranial pressure.
• Do not use Nitroford 25mg Injection 5ml if you are taking phosphodiesterase inhibitors (e.g., sildenafil, tadalafil, or vardenafil), as this can lead to severe hypotension.
• Avoid alcohol consumption during treatment.
• Nitroglycerin may cause dizziness; do not drive or operate machinery until you know how this medicine affects you.
• Concomitant heparin therapy should be guided by frequent measurement of activated partial thromboplastin time, as nitroglycerin may interfere with heparin's anticoagulant effect at higher dosages.
• Do not mix Nitroford 25mg Injection 5ml with other drugs in the same infusion set.

Side Effects and Risks

• Common side effects include headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, flushing (sense of warmth), orthostatic hypotension, and tachycardia.
• Less common but serious side effects can include methemoglobinemia (signs like unusual weakness, shortness of breath, blue skin or lips) and allergic reactions (skin rash, itching, swelling of face/lips/throat).
