Nicoline 10mg Tablet contains Nicorandil, a potassium channel opener and vasodilator, used to prevent and treat heart-related chest pain, known as angina.

Dosage and Administration

  1. Take Nicoline 10mg Tablet strictly as advised by your physician.
  2. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water, with or without food. Do not break, crush, or chew the medicine.
  3. The usual starting dose is 10 mg twice daily, preferably in the morning and evening. Your doctor may adjust the dose based on your condition and response to treatment.
  4. Do not discontinue this medicine without consulting your doctor, as sudden cessation may lead to a recurrence of chest pain.

 

Storage and Disposal

  • Store Nicoline Tablets at room temperature, protected from moisture and heat, not exceeding 25°C.
  • Keep the tablets out of reach and sight of children and pets.
  • Do not use this medicine after its expiry date.

Precautions and Safety

  • Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or currently breastfeeding.
  • Avoid alcohol consumption while on this medication, as it may increase the risk of dizziness and low blood pressure.
  • Do not take Nicoline 10mg Tablet if you have severe low blood pressure, certain heart conditions (such as cardiogenic shock or left ventricular failure with low filling pressure), or fluid accumulation in the lungs.
  • Concomitant use with phosphodiesterase 5 inhibitors (e.g., sildenafil, tadalafil, vardenafil) or soluble guanylate cyclase stimulators (e.g., riociguat) is contraindicated due to the risk of a severe drop in blood pressure.
  • Exercise caution if you have kidney or liver problems, low blood pressure, or a blood enzyme deficiency (glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency).
  • Be aware of the potential for gastrointestinal, mouth, tongue, or skin ulcers, which can develop at any point during treatment.
  • If you experience dizziness or weakness, refrain from driving or operating machinery.

 

Side Effects and Risks

  • Common side effects include headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, skin redness (flushing), and general weakness.
  • Headaches are often more frequent at the beginning of therapy but typically lessen with continued use.
  • Serious, though rare, side effects may include severe abdominal pain, blood in stool, or black/tarry stools, which could indicate gastrointestinal ulcers.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if side effects persist or worsen, or if you suspect an overdose, presenting with symptoms like severe low blood pressure or a fast heart rate.
