Neorof 10ml Injection

Neorof 10ml Injection contains Propofol (1%), a general anaesthetic used to induce and maintain anaesthesia for surgical procedures and for sedation.

Dosage and Administration

1. Neorof 1% Injection is administered intravenously by a doctor or trained anesthesiologist in a hospital setting.
2. The dose is decided by the physician based on age, body weight, and condition.
3. This medicine should not be self-administered.

Storage and Disposal

• Store below 30°C.
• Keep out of reach of children.
• Inspect the vial for particulate matter or discoloration before use.
• Ensure proper disposal of used vials and syringes.

Precautions and Safety

• This medicine should only be handled and administered by trained medical personnel.
• Inform your doctor about any existing health conditions, such as hypovolaemia, lipid disorders, increased intracranial pressure, epilepsy, high blood cholesterol, dehydration, or mitochondrial diseases.
• Disclose any known allergies, especially to eggs, egg products, soybeans, or soy products.
• Inform your doctor about all other medications, vitamins, nutritional supplements, and herbal products you are taking.
• Avoid alcohol after administration as it may cause sleepiness and impair your ability to think or react.
• Do not drive or operate machinery for at least 24 hours after receiving propofol, as it may cause severe drowsiness and dizziness.
• Caution should be exercised in pregnant or breastfeeding mothers, and patients with liver and kidney disease, though it is generally considered safe.
• Not recommended for use in neonates aged less than 1 month.

Side Effects and Risks

• Common side effects include headache, nausea, vomiting, local site pain, slow heart rate, and decreased blood pressure.
• Other reported side effects include involuntary muscle movements, fever, burning or stinging at the injection site, apnoea (brief breathing pause), bradycardia, hypotension, convulsions, and anaphylaxis.
• Serious complications like Propofol Infusion Syndrome (PRIS) are rare and usually linked to prolonged misuse.
• Report any signs of allergic reaction, such as hives, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, to your care team immediately.
