The Medilytic Biomedicals Koshbio HIV-1&2 Rapid Card is a rapid chromatographic immunoassay designed for the qualitative detection of antibodies to Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) types 1 and 2. This test facilitates the simultaneous detection of HIV-1 and HIV-2 antibodies in human serum, plasma, or whole blood. It delivers results within 15 minutes, supporting quick clinical decision-making.

Operating on the principle of immuno-chromatography, each test card incorporates a strip comprising a sample pad, conjugate pad, nitrocellulose membrane, and an absorbent pad. The device features a membrane strip pre-coated with recombinant HIV-1 capture antigen (gp41) and recombinant HIV-2 capture antigen (gp36). Recombinant HIV-1/2 antigens conjugated with colloidal gold are utilized to selectively detect antibodies to HIV-1 and HIV-2.

Intended for in-vitro diagnostic use, this rapid card serves as an aid in the diagnosis of HIV infection and for the screening of blood donors or blood products for HIV. Its design eliminates the need for specialized equipment, making it suitable for various clinical and field settings.
