Isonit 10mg Tablet contains Isosorbide Mononitrate 10mg, a nitrate vasodilator used to prevent heart-related chest pain (angina) caused by coronary artery disease.

Benefits

This medicine improves blood flow to the heart and reduces its workload. It helps prevent angina attacks, increases exercise tolerance, and reduces the frequency of angina episodes.

Uses and Indications

The Isonit 10mg Tablet contains:

• Isosorbide Mononitrate IP 10 mg (active ingredient).

Dosage and Administration

1. Take Isonit 10mg Tablet exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
2. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water, with or without food. Do not chew or crush it.
3. For new patients, an initial dose of 10mg (one tablet) daily for two days may be recommended, followed by 20mg daily (one tablet morning and evening) for three days, with subsequent increases as needed.
4. Your doctor may advise a dosing schedule that includes a daily nitrate-free interval (e.g., doses seven hours apart) to prevent tolerance.
5. Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly without consulting your doctor, as it may increase the risk of chest pain.

Storage and Disposal

• Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture.
• Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
• Do not use the medicine beyond the expiry date shown on the packaging.
• Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines you no longer use.

Precautions and Safety

• Avoid consuming alcohol while taking Isonit 10mg Tablet, as it may increase dizziness or light-headedness.
• This medicine may cause dizziness or light-headedness; do not drive or operate machinery until you know how it affects you.
• Stand up slowly from sitting or lying positions to reduce the risk of dizziness due to a drop in blood pressure.
• Inform your doctor if you have conditions such as low blood pressure, glaucoma, kidney disease, or heart failure, or if you are taking other medications.
• Do not take this medicine with phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors (e.g., sildenafil, tadalafil) as it can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure.
• Follow the prescribed dosing schedule carefully, including any nitrate-free interval, to minimize the development of tolerance.
• Isonit 10mg Tablet is not intended for the immediate relief of an acute angina attack.

Side Effects and Risks

• Common side effects include headache (which often improves over time), flushing, dizziness, light-headedness (especially on standing), tiredness, drowsiness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.
• Seek immediate medical help if you experience a severe allergic reaction (rash, swelling of the face/tongue/throat, trouble breathing), fainting, very low blood pressure, fast/irregular heartbeat, severe eye pain, blurred vision, or sudden loss of sight.
