The Grisosmart 500mg Tablet contains:

• Griseofulvin IP 500 mg (active ingredient).
• Excipients: maize starch, microcrystalline cellulose, sodium laurilsulphate, povidone, magnesium stearate, hypromellose, ethylcellulose, polysorbate 80, and propylene glycol.

Dosage and Administration

1. Adults: The usual dose is 500 mg daily, taken as a single dose or divided. For more difficult-to-treat infections like tinea pedis and tinea unguium, a daily dose of 1.0 gm may be recommended.
2. Children (over 2 years): Dosage is typically 10 mg per kg of body weight daily, to be determined by a doctor.
3. Administration: Take the tablet by mouth, preferably with or after a high-fat meal to enhance absorption and reduce stomach upset. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.
4. Duration: Continue the medication for the full prescribed period, even if symptoms improve, to ensure complete eradication of the infection. Treatment duration varies based on the infection type and location, ranging from 2-4 weeks for tinea corporis to 4 months-1 year for nail infections.
5. Missed Dose: If a dose is missed, take it as soon as remembered. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with the regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

• Store Grisosmart 500mg Tablet below 25°C, away from heat, moisture, and direct light.
• Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
• Dispose of unused or expired medicine responsibly as advised by your pharmacist.

Precautions and Safety

• Avoid consuming alcohol during treatment, as Griseofulvin may increase its effects and cause adverse reactions like nausea, vomiting, and flushing.
• Limit exposure to intense or prolonged natural or artificial sunlight, including sunbeds, as this medication can increase skin sensitivity to light. Use protective clothing and sunscreen.
• Griseofulvin is contraindicated in pregnancy. Women of childbearing potential must use effective contraception during therapy and for at least one month after stopping treatment. Men should avoid fathering a child for six months after completing therapy.
• Patients with severe liver impairment, porphyria, or systemic lupus erythematosus should not use this medication. Regular monitoring of liver function is advised for prolonged therapy.
• This medication may reduce the effectiveness of oral contraceptives; consider using an alternative or additional form of birth control.
• Periodic monitoring of organ system functions, including renal, hepatic, and blood counts, is recommended during prolonged treatment.

Side Effects and Risks

• Common side effects include headache, nausea, diarrhea, dizziness, vomiting, stomach discomfort, skin rash, numbness or tingling in hands/feet, trouble sleeping, and confusion.
• Serious side effects, though less common, can include severe skin reactions (blistering, peeling, fever, swelling of face/tongue), liver damage (yellowing of skin/eyes, dark urine, pale stools, unusual weakness), and blood disorders. Seek immediate medical attention if these occur.
