Precautions and Safety

  • Etodolac, like other NSAIDs, may increase the risk of serious cardiovascular thrombotic events, including heart attack and stroke, which can be fatal. This risk may increase with the duration of use and in patients with pre-existing heart problems. Do not use this medicine for pain before or after coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery.
  • There is an increased risk of serious gastrointestinal adverse events, such as bleeding, ulceration, and perforation of the stomach or intestines, which can be fatal. This risk is higher in elderly patients, those with a history of stomach ulcers or bleeding, or those taking other medications that affect the stomach.
  • To minimise gastrointestinal risks, take Etodolac 300mg Tablet with food or milk. Avoid consuming alcohol and tobacco while on this medication, as they can further increase the risk of stomach bleeding and ulcers.
  • This medicine may affect kidney function and can increase liver enzymes. Use with caution in patients with impaired renal function.
  • Do not take Etodolac 300mg Tablet if you have a known allergy to etodolac, aspirin, or other NSAIDs (e.g., ibuprofen, naproxen).
  • During pregnancy, especially in the last trimester, this medication should be avoided due to potential harm to the unborn baby. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to conceive. It is not known if Etodolac passes into breast milk, so use should be avoided during breastfeeding.
  • Etodolac may cause dizziness or drowsiness. Exercise caution when driving or operating machinery until you know how the medicine affects you.
  • Avoid combining this drug with other anti-inflammatory medications without consulting a doctor.

Side Effects and Risks

  • Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or constipation, stomach pain or ulcers, indigestion, gas, dizziness, and headache.
  • Serious side effects, though rare, can include heart attack, stroke, kidney damage, heart failure, liver problems (e.g., yellowing of skin or eyes), severe skin reactions (e.g., reddening, blistering), and allergic reactions (e.g., trouble breathing, swelling of face or throat, hives).
  • Seek immediate medical attention if you experience symptoms such as black tarry stools, vomit that looks like coffee grounds, unusual weight gain, swelling in arms/legs/hands/feet, changes in urine amount, ringing in the ears, mental/mood changes, difficult/painful swallowing, easy bruising/bleeding, sudden weakness on one side of the body, slurred speech, or sudden vision changes.
