Dentsply ProTaper Universal Refills NiTi Rotary Files are engineered for efficient and precise root canal preparation, designed to integrate seamlessly into the ProTaper Universal System. These rotary files are crafted from high-quality Nickel-Titanium (NiTi) alloy, providing a balance of flexibility and durability essential for navigating curved canals while resisting deformation.

The "21mm Shaping 1 (S1)" file is specifically designed for the initial preparation of the coronal one-third of the root canal. It features a progressively tapered triangular cross-section, which enhances cutting efficiency and minimizes contact with dentin, facilitating optimal removal of dentin and debris.

These files are intended for use in a controlled, slow-speed rotary handpiece, operating at a constant speed between 150 to 350 rpm. They are single-patient use devices that require sterilization before their initial use.

Determine the working length and establish a reproducible glide path before beginning instrumentation.
Use each instrument progressively down to the established working length.
Irrigation is necessary before engaging the files.
Use ProTaper rotary files at a constant and stable speed between 150–350 rpm.
Once the working length is reached, withdraw the file.
Clean the instruments thoroughly after each use.
Recommended Instrumentation Sequence (Most Clinical Cases)
S1 – S2 – F1
S1 File: Prepare the coronal one-third of the root canal.
S2 File: Prepare the middle one-third of the root canal.
F1 File: Prepare the apical portion of the root canal.
For Wider Apical Portions
Wide apical portions: Use F2 and F3 after the basic sequence.
Very wide apical portions: Use F4 and F5 after the basic sequence.
Additional Guidance
To increase the taper of the coronal portion, use the SX file with a brushing action.
The SX file can also help move the coronal aspect of the canal away from the furcation.
