The Crest Hemospot Kit is an in vitro diagnostic assay designed for the qualitative detection of occult blood in stool samples, employing the standard guaiac method. This kit is clinically useful as an aid in routine physical examinations and for screening gastrointestinal bleeding from various sources, including conditions such as colitis, polyps, diverticulitis, hookworm infestation, and colorectal cancer.

Operating as a manual test, the Crest Hemospot Kit requires no specialized analyser platform, making it suitable for diverse laboratory and clinical settings. The kit components, including guaiac-impregnated test cards and developer solution, are designed for stability. Unopened and opened kits maintain stability for 24 months when stored at 15-25°C. It is recommended to store the reagents at 15-30°C, in a cool place away from direct sunlight and fluorescent light.
