Abbott Free Style Libre Glucose Sensor - Pack of 1

The Abbott FreeStyle Libre Glucose Sensor is a continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) device engineered for the management of diabetes in individuals aged 18 and older. This system delivers real-time glucose readings and trends, effectively eliminating the necessity for routine finger-prick blood glucose testing for diabetes treatment decisions. It provides critical insights by detecting trends and tracking patterns, which assists in identifying episodes of hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia, thereby facilitating both acute and long-term therapy adjustments.

The sensor incorporates a thin, sterile filament that is inserted approximately 5 mm under the skin to continuously measure glucose levels in interstitial fluid. This filament is composed of Teflon and utilizes Abbott's proprietary wired enzyme technology for glucose detection. Designed for single patient use, the sensor can be worn for up to 14 days.

The FreeStyle Libre system has received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). It is compatible with a dedicated FreeStyle Libre reader or a smartphone equipped with the LibreLink companion app, enabling convenient and discreet glucose monitoring.
