The 3M Tegaderm CHG Dressing, measuring 11.5cm x 8.5cm and supplied in a Pack of 25 (1657R), is a transparent I.V. securement dressing designed to cover and protect catheter sites and secure devices to the skin. This dressing is specifically indicated and proven to reduce catheter-related bloodstream infections (CRBSI) and vascular catheter colonization, aligning with evidence-based guidelines and practice standards. It is commonly applied for securing and covering various intravascular catheters and percutaneous devices, including central venous, arterial, dialysis, epidural, PICC, and peripheral I.V. catheters.
This sterile dressing features an integrated gel pad containing 2% w/w Chlorhexidine Gluconate (CHG), which provides immediate and continuous broad-spectrum antimicrobial and antifungal protection for up to seven days. The transparent film, composed of polyurethane with acrylate adhesive, creates an effective barrier against external contaminants such as fluids, bacteria, and viruses 27 nm in diameter or larger, while allowing for continuous site visibility and moisture vapor exchange. The product is not made with natural rubber latex.
