What's in the Box

1 x 5ml Bottle Bonding Agent

The 3M Single Bond Universal Bonding Agent, supplied in a 5ml bottle, is a single-component, light-curing dental adhesive engineered for universal application across a broad spectrum of direct and indirect restorative procedures. This resin-based adhesive facilitates bonding of methacrylate-based restoratives, cements, and sealant materials to diverse dental surfaces, including enamel, dentin, glass ionomer, metals, glass ceramics, alumina, and zirconia.

This bonding agent features a simplified, one-step, one-coat application process, typically completed within 35 seconds. It is compatible with total-etch, self-etch, and selective-etch techniques. For applications involving self- or dual-cure composite and core build-up materials, the adhesive is used in conjunction with 3M™ Single Bond Universal DCA Dual Cure Activator. A properly applied, air-dried, and light-cured layer of Single Bond Universal adhesive exhibits high hydrophobicity, contributing to consistent bonding performance.

Key Features :

Universal resin-based adhesive indicated for direct and indirect restorations, root surface desensitization, sealing of dentin, and bonding sealants.
Single-component, one-step, one-coat direct application, compatible with total-etch, self-etch, and selective-etch techniques.
Achieves high bond strength to enamel, dentin, glass ceramics, zirconia, noble and non-precious alloys, and composites.
Fulfilled ADA criteria for approval across all etching techniques and is FDA Class II (Product Code KLE).

Material TypeResin-based adhesive
IndicationDirect and indirect restorations, core build-ups, root surface desensitization, sealing of dentin, bonding sealants, repair of restorations
Mixing MethodSingle-component, direct application; requires mixing with activator for dual-cure/self-cure materials
Bond StrengthHigh bond strength to enamel, dentin, and various indirect substrates
Working Time35 seconds (application time)
Setting Time10 seconds (light curing time)

Preparation Begin by preparing the tooth surface according to standard clinical protocols, ensuring it is clean and free from debris. Isolation: Isolate the treatment area to control moisture and achieve optimal bonding conditions. Etching (Optional): For Total-Etch Technique: Apply a suitable etchant to the enamel and dentin, then rinse and dry thoroughly. For Selective-Etch Technique: Apply the etchant to the enamel only, avoiding dentin. Rinse and dry. Application: Shake the adhesive bottle to ensure proper mixing. Apply a thin, even coat of 3M™ ESPE Adper Single Bond Universal Adhesive to the prepared tooth surface. Agitate it gently for 20 seconds to facilitate penetration. Light Cure: Use a suitable curing light to polymerize the adhesive for the recommended time. Restoration Placement: Proceed with placing the dental restoration according to standard clinical procedures. Post-Operative Care: Check for occlusion and make any necessary adjustments.
