3M Astringent Tissue Retraction Material -Paste is an advanced solution for temporary gingival retraction, meticulously formulated to support precise dental procedures. This paste incorporates 15% Aluminum Chloride, a potent astringent agent, designed to manage tissue and control bleeding effectively.

The material is indicated for marginal gingival retraction of healthy periodontium, facilitating the preparation for both material-based and digital impressions, as well as Class II and Class V fillings. It provides a clean, dry sulcus and robust hemostasis, which is crucial for capturing detailed impression margins.

Designed for efficient application, the 3M Astringent Tissue Retraction Material -Paste can be used with or without retraction cords and is compatible with most composite dispensers. It must be left in the sulcus for a minimum of 2 minutes to achieve optimal retraction results. Following its application, the paste must be completely rinsed off with an air-water spray and suction prior to impression taking, as astringents may inhibit the setting of A-silicones (VPS) and Polyethers.

Extrude a small amount of paste and discard it. Insert the retraction capsule tip into the sulcus to mechanically retract the tissue. Using the orientation ring, position the tip correctly within the sulcus. Slowly and steadily inject the astringent retraction paste, completely filling the sulcus. Leave the astringent retraction paste in place for a minimum of 2 minutes. Completely remove the astringent retraction paste using an air–water spray and suction.
