VaxiFlu 4 0.5ml Vaccine is a tetravalent inactivated influenza vaccine developed for active immunization against seasonal influenza. It provides comprehensive protection against four influenza virus strains, specifically including A/Victoria/4897/2022 (H1N1) pdm09-like virus, A/Thailand/8/2022 (H3N2)-like virus, B/Austria/1359417/2021 (B/Victoria lineage)-like virus, and B/Phuket/3073/2013 (B/Yamagata lineage)-like virus. Each 0.5ml dose contains ≥ 15 µg HA of each specified strain. This vaccine is indicated for children from 6 months to 17 years and adults aged 18 years and above.
The vaccine is particularly recommended for individuals at higher risk of influenza complications, such as persons aged 65 years and older, children below 5 years of age, and those with chronic health conditions including diabetes mellitus, heart failure, kidney failure, or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). To maintain its efficacy, VaxiFlu 4 0.5ml Vaccine requires strict cold-chain storage and must be kept refrigerated between 2°C and 8°C, protected from freezing.
VaxiFlu 4 0.5ml Vaccine is administered as an intramuscular injection, typically into the deltoid muscle. Annual revaccination is recommended due to the evolving nature of influenza virus strains and the duration of immunity provided by the vaccine. The vaccine has received regulatory approvals from the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI), Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO), and the Central Drug Laboratory (CDL).
