The Recombigen ASO Turbilatex 50 ml is a quantitative immunoturbidimetric assay designed to measure Anti-Streptolysin O (ASO) antibodies in human serum or plasma. ASO is produced in response to infection by Group A Streptococcus bacteria and is commonly used as a diagnostic marker for rheumatic fever and acute glomerulonephritis. This test utilizes latex particles coated with purified Streptolysin O antigen; when mixed with a sample containing ASO, agglutination occurs, causing a change in absorbance that is proportional to the ASO concentration. The extent of this change is quantified by comparison to a calibrator of known ASO concentration.
