What's in the Box

1 x Sphygmomanometer, 1 x Cuff

An aneroid sphygmomanometer is a medical device used to measure blood
pressure. Unlike its mercury counterpart, it employs a flexible metal or
rubber bellows mechanism. The device consists of an inflatable cuff to
occlude the artery, a pressure bulb to inflate the cuff, and a gauge
with a needle to measure the pressure. To use, the cuff is wrapped
around the patient's arm, inflated until blood flow stops, and then
slowly deflated while listening to the Korotkoff sounds with a
stethoscope. The pressure reading when the first sound is heard
corresponds to the systolic pressure, and when the sound disappears, it
denotes the diastolic pressure. Aneroid sphygmomanometers are widely
utilized due to their portability, accuracy, and absence of mercury,
making them a common choice in clinical settings and for home blood
pressure monitoring. Regular calibration is essential to maintain
accuracy.
