Select the Appropriate Size
Choose a rubber dam sheet from the assortment (Regular or Small) based on the patient’s arch size.
Prepare the Patient
Explain the procedure to the patient.
Retract lips and cheeks gently.
Ensure the working area is clean and free of debris.
Punch Holes (If Required)
If using a conventional punch system, punch holes corresponding to the teeth to be isolated.
OptraDam Plus may also be adapted without hole punching depending on clinical preference.
Lubricate (Optional)
Apply a small amount of dental lubricant around the edges of the dam to facilitate placement and improve patient comfort.
Position the Dam
Stretch the OptraDam Plus sheet over the dental arch.
Ensure the dam covers the teeth to be treated while extending over lips and cheeks for soft tissue retraction.
Engage Around Teeth
Gently seat the dam between the teeth and gingiva.
Use dental floss or an instrument to help seat the dam between contact points if necessary.
Secure the Dam
Adjust the integrated flexible frame so that the dam stays taut and properly positioned.
Ensure the dam provides a good seal around the isolated area.
Check Isolation
Confirm complete visibility and isolation of the treatment field.
Check that saliva and moisture are kept out of the working area.
Perform the Dental Procedure
Proceed with restorative, endodontic, bleaching, or other indicated treatments under the isolated field.
Removing the Dam
Gently stretch the dam away from the teeth.
Lift the dam off the arch carefully to avoid discomfort.
Inspect the oral tissues for any irritation.
